<\/a><\/p>\nSt. Clare founded the “Poor Clares” order of nuns and\u00a0was one of the first followers of St. Francis in early 13th c. Assisi. \u00a0She devoted herself to a life of poverty.<\/p>\n
Once when she was too ill to attend mass, she was able to see and hear the service projected on the wall of her room, so in 1958 Pope Pius XII designated her Patron Saint of Television. \u00a0St. Clare is also the Patron Saint of\u00a0against eye disease,\u00a0Assisi,\u00a0embroiderers,\u00a0eyes,\u00a0good weather,\u00a0gilders,\u00a0gold workers,\u00a0goldsmiths,\u00a0laundry workers, needle workers,\u00a0Santa Clara Indian Pueblo,\u00a0telegraphs,\u00a0telephones, and\u00a0television writers. \u00a0Great that we still have a Patron Saint of Telegraphs.<\/p>\n
