{"id":6287,"date":"2012-12-16T16:17:39","date_gmt":"2012-12-16T23:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/?p=6287"},"modified":"2013-04-27T13:19:58","modified_gmt":"2013-04-27T20:19:58","slug":"for-sandy-hook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/for-sandy-hook\/","title":{"rendered":"For Sandy Hook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>12&#8243; x 16&#8243;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/for-sandy-hook\/forsandyhook\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6292\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6292\" alt=\"forsandyhook\" src=\"https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/forsandyhook-300x246.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/forsandyhook-300x246.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.noahsaterstrom.com\/workaday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/forsandyhook.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mapleton is the name of our parents&#8217; old house in Sandy Hook, CT. \u00a0The house is a colonial home and the property stretches up a hill covered in large maple trees and at the top of the hill is a garden, a fire circle (built by me and my father), a large stone labyrinth and an old one room school house. \u00a0Beyond the garden, the hill slopes down to Sandy Hook Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2007, I was staying in my parents&#8217; school house for a month and that is where I painted this picture of my own first grade class. \u00a0I remember listening to the children playing in the school yard while I painted and thought they must be the age of the children I was painting.<\/p>\n<p>For what little good they do to comfort, maybe paintings can serve as a form for grief to take, as well as celebration of life, somehow simultaneously.
